Marshall Shepherd, Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor and director of the Atmospheric Sciences Program, received $50,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service to examine the role of weather and climate in the 2016 Appalachian fire outbreak. The project will involve a climatological study using historical data to examine changes in the probability of extreme droughts in conjunction with strong weather fronts.…
