University of Georgia Geography Ph.D. candidate, Jielu Zhang, has been awarded a 2024 Campus Sustainability Grant by UGA’s Office of Sustainability. Jielu’s proposal, titled “Enhancing Health Equity: Improving Access to Automated External Defibrillators at UGA,” was created in collaboration with School of Computing PhD student, Zhongliang Zhou and under the direction of UGA Geography professor Dr. Lan Mu. The proposal aims to improve AED accessibility and health outcomes for students and visitors to campus. Congratulations, Jielu! Drawn from the Student Green Fee, grants up to $5,000 are available to current UGA students who wish to initiate projects that advance sustainability through education, research, service, and campus operations. Successful projects will address UGA's strategic priorities and integrate social, environmental, and economic solutions to help ensure that all people can thrive, both now and in the future. Grants are awarded based on merit, positive impact, effective partnerships, implementation feasibility, and available funding.
